About Us
Who we are?
We’re not another charity. We’re not an institution. We Are What We Do is a movement. We’d like to inspire people to use their everyday actions to change the world. Whoever they are. And wherever they are. And that includes you.
We’ve created 50 simple, everyday actions that can improve our environment, our health, and our communities, making our planet and the people on it much happier. We started by putting these actions in a book, but the whole movement is getting bigger. And bigger.
Where did the idea originate?
In the UK where We Are What We Do began life as a project of the charity Community Links. Community Links is an innovative inner city charity running community-based projects in east London. Founded by local volunteers , the charity now helps over 50,000 vulnerable children, young people and adults every year. Change the World for a Fiver was launched first in Sept 2004.
How are we funded?
We Are What We Do in Canada is currently funded by We Are What We Do in the UK, using proceeds from the sale of Change the World for a Fiver. We aim to be self sufficient pretty soon with your help (please buy our book!) and expand our projects to include a schools program, national action days and other books and cool stuff to keep people inspired.
Who makes it happen?
You do. Everyone does. Hundreds of people have been involved in getting We Are What We Do off the ground in Canada. And the amazing thing is that pretty much everyone has done it for nothing. Well, not for money that is. We’re all doing it for the biggest prize there is. Without sounding too corny … The happy knowledge that we are all doing our bit. And our bit counts because others are doing their bit too.
So that’s us.
Thanks for visiting our site. Thanks for signing up to do our actions (and not just once, but everyday), thanks for joining in, telling others and spreading the word.
